The SSHC together with the volunteers ingaged themselves in starting a stop AIDS project in the Johannesburg CBD.
Where a group of SSHC volunteers will visit different blocks of flats; mainly to distribute condoms to the tenants and also educate them about the awareness of HIV/AIDS and how important it is for them to know their status before engaging themselves in any kind of a sexual relationship.
Since 2008;the SSHC has been targeting different areas around Gauteng ;providing the communities with free counselling and testing courtesy of New Start professionally trained volunteers.
The main objective of this project ;is to reduce the rate of HIV/AIDS infections by encouraging our brothers and sisters to practice safe sexual intercourse. During the month of December 2009; the department of Health provided the SSHC volunteers with basic HIV/AIDS training in order for them to become peer educators for the benefit of the community; now we are able to provide counselling to women and men out there who knew little about the AIDS pandemic.
Contribute an hour of your time and you will make a major difference in someone’s life
