Diepsloot is a home to about 150 000 people ;many of them living in shacks assembled from scrap metal; wood plastic and cardboard. They lack access to basic services such as running water ;sewage and rubbish removal
residents use paraffin stoves and coal for cooking and candle for light ; the unemployment rate is estimated at 46% and 73% of the residents live below the the unemployment line .
the SSHC has taken the initiative to start an outreach programme in the disadvantaged community of Diepsloot ;donating food parcels in partnership with OXO Bedrooms every first week of the month.
The SSHC also currently providing bread donated by D.F bakery and soup donated by Shoprite at Jabavu East primary school in Soweto .
this school is categorized to be one of the less fortunate school in its community; most of the learners are orphans and some of them their parents are struggling to make ends meet.
It is only due to the lack of funding that these communities and schools are struggling ;therefor the SSHC is doing its best to bring relief to these kids in any way possible.
